Imagining Jannah

Let’s imagine Jannah.

IMAGINING JANNAH:

“And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit :therefrom, they will say: “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever.” ( Holy Quran, Surah Baqarah :225)

We all love prizes. The moment we enter a contest, we start dreaming about the prize. In fact, we spend more time day-dreaming about gifts than actually working for the task. What about the reward promised by Allah? What about the ultimate success? What about Jannah? Do we imagine it enough?

When sinning:

Keeping eyes fixed on the prize will provide a constant motivation. Whenever we fall into sin, we must think whether this sin is really worth the price. Whether the pleasure for this fleeting moment is really worth missing out on Jannah. Is this better or Jannah better? Before tripping, let jannah flash before your eyes. The lofty mansions, the beautiful rivers, the rich gold and the silk, the eternal ever increasing beauty, the never ending life full of delicious food, peace and peace and more peace. Do you really want to trade Jannah with this sin? Think again. This constant questioning, reflecting, reminding ourselves should help us stay on Sirat-al-mustaqeem.

When dealing with luxuries of the world:

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The life of this world compared to the Hereafter is as if one of you were to put his finger in the ocean and take it out again then compare the water that remains on his finger to the water that remains in the ocean.” [Sahîh Muslim (2858)]

This is a very good hadith to ward off jealously or depression. Whenever you see someone better than you in looks, or wealth or anything that catches your eye and strikes your heart, remember its all temporary and you can have all of that and ten times much better than that in Paradise, only if you really want it.

You may be plain now, but your deeds could grant you eternal beauty that never ages, but only gets better with everyday , the kind of beauty that doesn’t require maintenance or upkeep. You never have to worry about facials and makeup, your skin will get prettier everyday on its own. Sisters, don’t you want that?

When you see a beautiful house, say Rabbibni li indaka baitan fil Jannah. (Ya Allah build for me a house near you in paradise), which is a dua of Asiya ( May Allah be pleased with her). Also, quickly, recite Surah Iqlaas 10 times.

Mu’adh bin Anas (RA) reported that Rasuulullaah (صلى الله علﯾﻳﮫﻪ وﻭسلمﻡ) said,

“Whoever recites surah Ikhlas ten times, Allaah will build for him a house in Paradise.” [Ahmad – sahih]

There you go, you just got a house built for yourself in Jannah. How easy it is compared to owning a house on earth. Years of planning and saving for a temporary stay, but just 5 mins for an awesome, everlasting abode. You decide what you want.

Don’t be saddened by the sight of large, opulent villas of this world nor be jealous. Be hopeful, that in sha Allah, you will have so much better than this in Jannah. In sha Allah. Work for it. Pray for it. Imagine it.

There’s everything you could possible ask for in Jannah. Beautiful clothes? Gold and silk brocades. Luxurious furniture? Thrones people, THRONES.. 5 star restaurants? Never ending supply of scrumptious food from all over the world and beyond AND they will never make you fat! You just have to eat them, neither cook, nor buy, nor wait for them to arrive at your table. You shall wish, and they shall appear, in sha Allah. Dream holidays? How about a holiday for good? A holiday without an end in the most enchanting, most serene place with your desired company and totally free. Jannah is like a paid holiday for ever. No work, only rest.

Every night before going to sleep, imagine Jannah. Imagine seeing the face of your Lord. Imagine meeting Allah swt. Recollect what you have done today to get closer to your goal. Plan what you want to do tomorrow to reserve a place for yourself in the most beautiful place ever created by the best of Creators, that is well beyond your imagination. Analyze the choices you made today. Forgive people who have wronged you. Imagine Jannah.

When Dealing with people :

Jannah is not for everyone. Jannah is not for the weak.

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The strong-man is not one who wrestles well but the strong man is one who controls himself when he is in a fit of rage.

Sahih Muslim Book 032, 6313

Theres always one annoying person you have to deal with everyday, either in your family, or school or neighbourhood or your workplace. He never fails to bug you, you have no other option but to deal with him almost everyday. You know what, you should start loving him from today. Thank Allah for placing him in your life. Why? Because he is teaching you the most important lesson of your life : patience. The most essential trait which will take you to Jannah.

Another hadith has it,

“I guarantee a house in Jannah (Paradise) for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a house in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even when joking / for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners.” [Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله علﯾﻳﮫﻪ وﻭسلمﻡ) – reported by Imam Abu Dawud]

If he irritates you everyday, and everyday you control your anger in anticipation of reward from Allah, you will actually be building houses in Jannah every single day. How? Just by staying silent, not reacting, not reciprocating, not answering back but only giving a smile and uttering a kind word. You will earn your reward and don’t worry, he won’t bother you for long. He will automatically stop it. Try it, this works.

Also, It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allah Bin Mas’ood [may Allah be pleased with him] that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No one who has an atom’s-weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.”

A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, what if a man likes his clothes and his shoes to look good?”

He said, “Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty. Arrogance means rejecting the truth and looking down on people.”

When it gets really tough, remember all the hardships Muhammad(P.B.U.H.) had to go through. He bore both the physical pain and the verbal abuses, but always with the kindest heart and the sweetest tongue.

Conclusion:

What is more important to you ? Your enmities, your disputes, your arguments, your conflicts or JANNAH? Your ego or Jannah? Your desires or Jannah? Your sleep or Jannah? You decide. Jannah is for you, if you badly want it. Remember it often. Look forward to it. Imagine it. Dream it. Plan it. It’s your real home. You must long to return to it. Do whatever you can to come back home.
